Born in Aichi Prefecture. After traveling to pottery centers around the world and creating ceramics using local clays, the artist established studios in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and Kutsuki Village, Shiga Prefecture. In addition to ceramics, the artist creates sculptural works using a variety of materials, including iron. These pieces—characterized by a powerful yet serene presence that evokes the passage of time—have captivated fans and collectors alike. Beyond holding numerous exhibitions at museums and galleries both in Japan and abroad, the artist is also involved in the production and art direction of commercial facilities. Furthermore, the artist opened a private museum, "BANKO archive design museum," in their hometown of Yokkaichi to explore the relationship between craft and people.
